ICEWOOD is a New Zealand-based studio working with one of the rarest natural materials on Earth —
Ancient Kauri, the world’s oldest workable wood.

Buried and naturally preserved in peat swamps for up to 50,000 years,
this prehistoric timber is a finite resource that cannot be replaced or recreated.

Each piece is carefully recovered in New Zealand and transformed into functional furniture
and sculptural interior works.

Ancient Kauri carries the imprint of a forest that grew long before human civilisation.

Preserved in oxygen-free conditions since the Ice Age, the timber retains extraordinary
grain structure, natural colour variation, and organic character formed over tens of
thousands of years.
